Summer Stuff

Hello all!

Well here's the once a month post. haha

So Summer seems to be going rather smoothly. For some of us it's been relaxing and no work. For others it's been rehearsals, shows, and traveling. Sometimes I think my summers are busier than my school years. Go figure.

I can't remember if I posted it here, but I finally got my Barry Dudley fiddle and I love this instrument more than the $15 grand fiddles I've played.

So happy with it!!!

I've got tons of music to learn for the bands I'm playing with this summer and continuing into the fall. As well as writing and arranging new tune sets and lyrics for DFP! I've noticed a lot of tunes I write sound similar... time to change some things then. haha

Well that's all for now!

Hope you are enjoying your summer!

Emilio's Fiddle

Hello all.
Emilio here with some news.

I've commissioned Barry Dudley to make me a custom 5 string fiddle which is near completion! If you've never heard of him and are shopping for a new fiddle TRY A BARRY DUDLEY FIDDLE! They are the best fiddle I've ever played/ heard!

Here's his website: www.dudleyviolins.com
He sent me some pictures of my fiddle and it looks great! Hopefully I'll be able to pay it off and be able to record on the album with it!

Speaking of fiddles, I'm switching to using only 5 string fiddles.
That being said, I'm selling my very nice 4 string fiddle. It's a great instrument and has a beautiful tone. Here's some information on it.

You are looking at a full size Andrzej Swietlinski (Polish maker) Stradivarius Violin Copy

Made in 2007 in Nowy Targ, Poland

Model Number 100023

This Violin was purchased in December 2007 and looks like new. The Violin was appraised by Paul Wiessmeyer (www.bostonfiddle.com) for $5000. I am selling it for $4400. This is a great violin for serious advanced student or a professional. The Violin has nice narrow flames all around the ribs, sides, neck, scroll, and back. Two-piece back, and new sound post. The violin has Heart style rosewood pegs with gold trim and pin (different than in picture), a nice rosewood hollowed out tailpiece, for extra projection and resonance. It has a dark orange finish and very low action. Super easy to play. I just put on new Larsen violin strings.

The tone of the violin is loud and projects nicely. Comes with Core violin case. (this is the Fiddle)

Please contact me at dublinfreepress@gmail.com with any questions. I'll only accept PayPal payments and free shipping to the US! (If you're serious in buying please put "Interested in your Polish Fiddle" in the Subject)

Enjoy your weekend! Hopefully we'll see you at our shows next week! See www.dfpband.com for more details!

here's the fiddle on eBay! It needs a good home! Happy bidding! http://ning.it/bDKgR3

just lowered the price!

Baseball Season!

Well It's Baseball Season Finally... Well it has been for a bit. haha

Most of the band lives near Fenway park and it get crowded and crazy here on game nights!

Emilio is a Houston Astros fan and Dan is a SF Giants fan... ironically they both played their 1st 3 games against each other. There were best made for those games and Emilio is now down $30!

The Astros are having a foul season so far, although they did win their game tonight! A good come back since last night they lost terribly to the same team! (the Chicago Cubs, Emilio likes them too! haha)

Baseball is a great sport and I think most of us enjoy watching it.

I'm just glad it's back! It's times like this I miss having cable to watch most of the games I want!

Have a great weekend everyone!

New Music

It's been a while since anyone has posted, but here's the latest.

So we have rehearsal for our final two shows this semester. Then we are taking a short break, but we'll still be working on music for the album.

Check http://www.dfpband.com/News_%26_Shows.html for information on our 2 shows coming up.

As far as the album goes we've made some progress on filling up those slots we had free. Emilio has written a vocal number and Kyle is working on one as well.

Emilio actually wrote his last night. He got his inspiration from a song called "This is the Life" by Amy MacDonald.

Can't wait so share the album with you all!

Enjoy Amy MacDonald's song. It's a good one!
Enjoy the day!

Studio Viewing, Album Plans

Well good morning everyone!

Today Emilio and Thom will be going to Allston, MA to check out the studio we are planning to be recording in. They are called Keep the Edge Studios. Looking forward to the viewing.

Dan was there recording with Jenna and Bees on Saturday. Great band! Check 'em out!
www.myspace.com/jennaandthebees

www.keeptheedgestudios.com
the studio is run by Berklee Grads and we're very excited to be working along side them!
Looks like we'll be recording in September. We've had some minor set backs. But it's a good thing, so we can make the album like we want and have more time to plan, arrange, and think of more things to do for it.

Speaking of the album, I think we'll be doing 10 tracks and we have 2 open spots to fill to make the 10. I know we will be doing a cover (TBD), 1 or 2 well known remakes of Irish songs, And some of the original stuff we've done live.

It's going to be a fun time! Have a great day everyone!

Annoying Things!

Do you ever find yourself to become annoyed easily by things that keep happening.

Well people are constantly not replying to things and I find it super annoying. Especially if it's important subject!
Oh well I can't change people... Some of them will just remain incompetent!

So It looks like we will not be doing weekly gigs at Lansdowne due to the fact they want someone now... Since we are all going out of town for a long while, it's apparently not going to work... that too I find annoying!

But 30 Rock is making things better.
Thank you Tina Fey! ;)

So now I'm going to finish working on Trad. Irish tunes for our album. It's looking like we'll be doing 10 tracks for the album! We'll be recording at Keep the Edge Studio in Allston, MA!!

Then I shall work out before DFP rehearsal... I wish I still had a gym membership!

Have a great night everyone!

Week After Break

Well today is the last day of classes for the band and then the weekend!

Kyle unfortunately fell ill this past week and has pretty much had his head in the toilet all week. Thank goodness he's doing better today!
In good news, Kyle has got the great opportunity to play this summer at Hershey Park!!
http://www.hersheypark.com/

We are very excited for him and we know he's very excited too!
So we will have a sub for him this summer for any gigs we do.
This also means his parts on the album will be done at a later time. But it will be done!

on that note, unfortunately we will not be able to all go down to Texas like we thought for the album, but will be doing it in Boston!

So many good things to come!

Have a great day everyone!
